Sheffield man in hospital after violent burglary
Two men have been arrested in connection with the burglary incident
A man aged in his sixties, from Shiregreen, Sheffield, has been rushed to hospital after being shot during a burglary.
The victim was shot following a break-in at his property during the early hours of Monday, June 6. Two men have been arrested by police on suspicion of aggravated burglary and attempted murder.
According to the police, the victim has an injury “consistent with a firearms discharge.” He is still being treated in hospital and his condition is described as serious and potentially life-threatening.
The officer investigating the crime, Detective Inspector Paul Wilson, says that it seems to be an isolated incident and they are still investigating the burglary and shooting as a top priority.
He also went on to say that they are continuing to follow up on a few lines of enquiry and that they intend to use all their available resources to investigate and catch those responsible for the shooting.
Detective Inspector Wilson went on to reassure the public that although incidents such as this are very distressing, thankfully they are a rare occurrence.
Both suspects, aged twenty-four and twenty-five are still in police custody.
