As a leading provider of home alarm installations in the UK, we understand that choosing a house alarm that is suitable for your individual needs can be confusing. For this reason, our aim is to help you make the right security decisions that will leave you and your family feeling safe and sound within your home.
Independent studies, approved by The Metropolitan Police Office, have shown that burglars are less likely to target a property that is protected by a house alarm but it’s also important to consider which type of alarm is going to provide you with the highest level of security that is affordable for you.
There are four main types of house alarms to consider:
- Audible/bells-only alarm – these make a loud noise when triggered and alert yourself or neighbours to a potential intruder but no one is remotely contacted.
- Speech dialler/GSM (wireless) alarm – this type of alarm will contact the home owner and two predetermined friends, family members, or neighbours of your choosing when triggered.
- Keyholder response alarm – many independent companies (alarm receiving centres (ARC)) exist that will attend to your home upon an alarm being triggered. This service can be costly and will require a monthly payment or yearly contract but often includes maintenance and repair cover.
- Remote Signalling alarm – this type of alarm requires a contract with an alarm receiving centre (ARC) who will monitor the alarm and contact police upon it being sounded. This company however must meet with the National Police Chiefs Council Security Systems Policy in order to be effective.
Hard-wired and wire-free house alarms provided by a certified company can be expensive but these provide the best security and the surest peace of mind.
